Click on the link below for the list of girls that have made the
Esperanza Women's Soccer Program for the 2010-11 HS soccer
season. This list is not final for seniors. All
Seniors will continue to train and tryout until the end of
summer. Everyone on the list will be selected for frosh/soph,
junior varsity, or varsity team when high school begins.
The teams are usually posted by mid October.

Sunday Night Skills Clinic |
|
Starting Sunday July 25th, Jimmy Nordberg, USSF A License and
LAFC Cosmos Academy Coach will be hosting 8 weeks of clinics on
Sunday nights. For more information

Yorba Linda Soccer
Youth Camp |
|
This year the city of Yorba Linda will be having
2 kids camps. The camps will be directed by John King, the
Esperanza HS Women's Head Soccer Coach. This will be the
9th year head coach John King has been part of the youth camp in
Yorba Linda. Current and past Esperanza HS players
will staff the camp. Which will include member of the
2009-10 CIF Division I Champions and Division I Regional
Champions. One great feature of the camp is the great
coach to camper ratio, which is 1 coach to every 4 campers.
This ratio provides a wonderful learning environment for all
levels of players. Any questions

ESPN Rise |
|
Head coach John King received The National Coach of the Year
award from ESPN Rise and Katie Gallanes also was awarded 2nd
team all American.

Summer Camp |
This years camp for all students interested in being part of the
Esperanza HS Women's Soccer program will take place during the
following dates.

All participating Students must be registered for the camp
and have a physical completed (Physical
Form) and on file.

here. Registration packets will also be sent home with
current Esperanza athletes and are available in the front

turned into the front office before the camp begins.

Congratulation to Rylee Baisden for being selected into the ODP
pool. Kaleigh Dodson will be continuing her soccer career next
year at San Marcos University.
Lacie Carver has selected Pepperdine Univ to continue her
soccer career.
Melissa Laxamana will be playering college soccer at Cal
Baptist next year.
8 seniors will be continuing their soccer careers next year

The Orange County Register selected 3 players from Esperanza HS
to their
all county team.
Congratulations to

Champions |
|
For
the second time in one week, the Aztec's beat San Clemente, this
time is was in the Regional Finals. Rylee Baisden who did
not play in the CIF finals match against San Clemente, scored in
golden goal in overtime to propel the Aztec's to a 1-0 win and a
perfect season.

Semi-Finals |
|
The Aztec's went down 0-1, ten minutes into the match against La
Costa Canyon at Bradford stadium in the Southern California CIF
Regional Semi-Finals. After having 3 goals called back,
the Aztec's Finally answered when Melissa Laxamana played a pass
to Lindsay Tsai who buried a long range shot into the side
netting. With just 6 minutes remaining in the match, AB
connected with Rylie Baisden who drove the ball into the goal

Quarter-Finals |
The Aztec's came away with a 2-1 overtime win against visiting
Rancho Buena Vista from San Diego. Katie Gallanes scored
the winning goal with 3 minutes remaining in golden goal OT.

|
The Aztec's have qualified for the Southern California Regionals
which will begin play on Tuesday. The Aztec's will host
Rancho Buena Vista from San Diego. The game will be played
at Bradford Stadium at 6pm.

CIF CHAMPIONS 2009-10 |

The Aztec's defeated the 5-time defending CIF Champions San
Clemente Saturday night in PK's after a both teams played to a
scoreless draw.

Mission Viejo HS. The Aztec's will face San Clemente HS.

Overshadows Esperanza's Victory |
|
The Esperanza Aztecs' 2-0 semifinal victory over Santa Margarita
was marred in the final two minutes of the match when leading
scorer Rylee Baisden was given a red card.

Quarter-Finals
Vs Murrieta Valley |
|
The Aztec's continue to find the back of the net as they
defeated Murrieta Valley in the Quarter Finals Friday night at
home, 3-0. Kaleigh Dodson scored the 1st goal off a free
kick from Melissa Laxamana. Shortly after Erica Mazeau
received a pass from Dodson and slotted the ball passed MV
goalkeeper. Partway through the 1st half, Nosa received a
header from her sister AB and beat the keeper to record the 3rd
goal of the game. Lacie Carver preserved the shutout in
the goal for the Aztecs.

The Aztecs jumped all over Trabuco Hills scoring 4 first half
goals to beat the Mustangs on their home field Wednesday night
in the 2nd Round of CIF. |
CIF 1st Round
Vs Millikan |

The Aztec's defeated Millikan of Long Beach 6-0 to begin CIF.
Kaliegh Dodson had the first 2 goals to begin the game.
Rylee Baisden soon got another. Amanda Wagerle and Katie
Michels also had a goal.

Regular Season Accomplishments |
|
The Aztec's finished their season last Friday, Feb. 12 with a
1-0 victory at Fountain Valley. The win gave the Aztec's a
19-0-4 record. The Aztec's also were the
Sunset League Champions with an 8-0-2 record. Here is a look
at where the Aztec's ended up ranked.

Erica Mazeau lifted the Aztec's past Newport Harbor on the road
Tuesday night. Late in the second half Erica received a
through ball from Rylie Baisden and slotted a shot in the side
net. Lacie Carver also had a big night earning the shotout
with a number of big stops late in the game.

are heating up the soccer scene in Southern California.

Another Mile Stone for the
Aztec's |
|
The Aztec's beat Marina on the road Thursday 2-1. After
falling behind 0-1, the Aztec's picked up the pace and started
creating numerous scoring opportunity. Erica Mazeau scored
the game tying goal off a corner kick from Melissa Lazamana.
Early in the 2nd half Melissa Laxamana scored the game winning
goal. Thursday victory at Marina marks the 1st time in 3
years that Esperanza has come away from Marina with a win.
Esperanza will be on the road all next week, Tuesday at Newport
Harbor and Thursday at Edison, both games scheduled to kickoff
at 4:45pm.

The Aztec's had 7 different players score Monday night at Irvine
HS as the women's varsity soccer team defeated Irvine 7-0.
The varsity girls finish the preseason undefeated for the first
time in coach King's 9 years going 11-0-2. The FS team also
defeated the JV team at Irvine HS 2-0. |

Here is a look at four players that displayed their talents at
the county's biggest preseason tournament and proved to be
invaluable to their team's success. Rylee Baisden
(Esperanza): The sophomore forward scored six goals in
five games for the Aztecs and is now tops in the county in goals
scored among sophomores with 11.

The marquee showdown Saturday will pit Wilson and Esperanza.

Semi-Finalist |
|
The Aztec's advanced to the semi-finals of the Aliso Cup for the
3rd consecutive year on Saturday night. On the road to the
semi's, the Aztec's knocked off the #5 team in the country, Long
Beach Wilson 3-0. Melissa Laxamana scored in the 1st half
knocking in a long range free kick. The 2nd half saw the
Aztec's continue to dominate play and possession which generated
goals from Kennedy Roteman and Rylee Baisden. Lacie Carver
ended the game with 4 saves and the shutout. In the semi, the
Aztec's met up against the #3 ranked team in CIF in Aliso Niguel.
Aliso got on the board first during the 1st half. The 2nd
half saw the Aztec's apply continuous pressure on the Wolverines
and with 8 minutes remaining, Erica Mazeau knocked in her 1st
goal of the year to tie the game. The game then went into
pk's where Lacie Carver, Rylee Baisden, Erica Mazeau, and
Melissa Laxamana each converting the pks. Unfortunetly the
Aztec's fell 4-5.
The Aztec's at 5-0-1 will put their undefeated record on the
line when the face El Modena at home on Thursday at 5pm. |

4-0 Start |
|
The Aztec's are off to a 4-0 start to begin the new soccer
season. On Thursday night, AB Ogiamien, Rylee Baisden, and
Kennedy Roteman each scored a goal in the 3-1 victory over
Ayala. The win places the Aztecs in the top spot of their
pool with one game remaining against Long Beach Wilson.
Last years Esperanza defeated Wilson in the finals to Capture
the Aliso Cup. The Junior Varsity also recorded a 1-0 Win with
Alyssa Giannetta recording a shutout in the 1st half and then
scoring the game winner in the second half. The goal marks
Alyssa second game winning goal.
The F/S also broke into the winner column with a 2-0.

Edison Tournament. |

Dodson Leads with 2 goals |
|
Kaleigh Dodson scored 2 goals to help the Aztecs remain
undefeated. The 2-0 win over Dana Hills was the first game
of pool play in the Aliso Niguel Tournament. Next up is
Ayala on Thursday at home and then Long Beach Wilson Saturday at
Aliso Niguel. The Aztec's won the tournament last year
beating Long Beach Wilson in Pks. |

Aztec's Rally for 3 second
half goals |
|
The Aztecs rallied from a 0-2 halftime deficit on the road
against Mater Dei to defeat the Monachs 3-2. Freshmen Nosa
Ogiemien scored the 1st goal for the Aztec's just 5 minutes into
the 2nd half. Rylee Baisden then add the equalizer scoring
her 2nd goal in just as many games. Then Senior Kennedy
Roteman score the game winner off a corner kick from Melissa
Laxamana. The 3-2 victory marks the 1st win for Coach King
over Mater Dei in his 9 years at Esperanza. |

Esperanza wins 2-1 over LB
Poly |
|
The Esperanza Varsity girls opened their preseason with a 2-1
win over Long Beach Poly at home on Thursday night. After
a scoreless first half the Aztecs took the lead 10 minutes into
the 2nd half when freshmen Nosa Ogiamien played a through ball
into the path of her older sister AB Ogiamien who tucked the
ball pasted the charging Poly goalkeeper. With 15 minutes
left in the game Rylee Baisden playing in her 1st official
varsity game after being sideline during her entire freshmen
year with an injury scored her 1st goal for Esperanza HS.
Poly scored with 3 minutes left in the game. The Junior
Varsity also came away with a 2-1 when getting a goal late in
the second half from Alyssa Giannetta who also recorded a
shutout in the goal during the 1st half. |
