John
King enters his 9th season at the helm of the Esperanza Women's
Soccer program, recording his 100th victory in the 2007-2008
season.
King has coached the Lady Aztecs to 3 Sunset League
championships, 3 CIF semi-finals and was named Sunset League
coach of the year in 2002 & 2006. In 2008, the Aztec's
ended their season ranked #7 nationally and #2 in southern
California by ESPN Rise.
Before joining the Aztecs, John headed up the women’s varsity
team at Alta Loma High School in Rancho Cucamonga. At Alta
Loma HS, John won a CIF title as a player in 93, his senior year
and then won another CIF title in 95 as the boys assistant
coach. He then guided the women's program at Alta Loma HS
to 4 consecutive leagues titles and 2 CIF quarter final
appearances.
He holds the USSF “A” license along with his NSCAA National
Diploma. With 14 years of club coaching experience, he
currently hangs his club coaching hat with Legends FC.
He
began his coaching career in 1994 at Claremont High School
before returing to Alta Loma HS in 95. John broke into the collegiate ranks at University of LaVerne in 1995 serving as the assistant men’s coach. He has
also served on the coaching staffs at Mt. Sac (2005) and Chaffey
College (2006).
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration
from Cal Poly Pomona, Coach King also completed his teaching
credential in June 09 and will complete his Master Degree at National University
in November.
John, his lovely wife Amy, and their first child Parker Westley
King reside in Yorba Linda.
